Category Manager - Canada (Beverage / CPG)

MacDonald Search Group has been asked by our high-growth, globally recognized beverage client to recruit a Category Manager to support their continued expansion across the Canadian retail landscape. This role will act as the Canadian category expert, translating data into actionable insights and helping shape strategy across key retail partners and internal teams.

Some of what you will do:

  • Develop and deliver compelling, insight-led storytelling to support sales, marketing, and retailer engagement
  • Act as the Canadian category expert across beverage, leveraging market data to identify growth opportunities
  • Build and evolve a national Category Playbook to guide assortment, shelving, pricing, and promotional strategy
  • Partner with Sales to support Joint Business Planning (JBP) and customer-facing sell-in initiatives
  • Lead analysis across POS, shopper, and syndicated data to generate actionable recommendations
  • Identify and onboard new data and insights partners to enhance visibility into the Canadian market
  • Build scalable reporting tools and dashboards to track performance and inform decision-making
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Innovation, and broker partners
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to both internal stakeholders and retail customers

You should have the following:

  • 3-5 years of experience in CPG, ideally within category management, shopper insights, or business analytics
  • Strong experience working with syndicated data (e.g., Nielsen, Circana) and retailer data platforms
  • Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations
  • Experience supporting JBP processes and retail-facing presentations
  • Familiarity with space planning tools (e.g., JDA or equivalent) is an asset
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive, curious mindset with a passion for understanding consumer and category trends
