Our client, a leading manufacturer of supplements and other health related products is looking to hire a Director of Quality Assurance. Reporting to the VP of Quality, you will lead the quality department along with Audits, and compliance. This growing company's mission is to contribute to the lives of its customer, employees, suppliers and the community in a sustainable manner. As an integral part of the management team, you will help streamline bath reviews, product documentation and support the ongoing growth. Additional responsibilities will include CFIA and FDA food safety programs (HACCP, GMP and GIP Programs).
  • Extensive knowledge of the Canadian Food and Drugs Act and Safe Foods for Canadians Act.
  • Experience and qualifications in HACCP, GFSI, GMP and/or GIP Programs.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in developing and managing food safety compliance programs including managing a food safety team.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Good listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working within a rapidly changing and dynamic company.
  • Manage the QA Department; hiring, goal setting, training, commending and termination of staff.
  • Preparation of budgets, which will include lab testing and staff training.
  • Develop, implement and maintain HACCP Plans and related food safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct audits on suppliers and storage facilities as needed.
  • Audit and enforce company compliance with all aspects of the HACCP Programs.
  • Play a major role in CFIA and customer HACCP and/or food safety & GMP/GIP audits.
  • Stay current on Canadian food safety regulations and other related compliance programs.
  • Oversee customer/consumer complaint programs and submitting monthly reports to senior management.
  • Provide brand product support including core labelling elements, permitted ingredients,
  • Bachelor degree or diploma in food science, Microbiology, Chemistry
  • Recognized qualifications and demonstrated experience in HACCP, GFSI, GMP and/or GIP programs.
  • Five years of experience with demonstrated competence in developing, implementing and overseeing quality assurance and food safety programs.
  • Experience working with CFIA, third party and blue-chip customer auditors.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Works well in team environments.
  • Detail oriented, strong organizational and project management Skills
  • Good listening and strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role.
