Job Description – Director of Sales

Our client, a food manufacturer, with a global presence is looking for someone to lead their sales team in Canada. Reporting directly to the CCO the incumbent will be responsible for leading the Canadian Sales Team, delivering sales objectives, and collaborating across the various departments.

This key role will require extensive travel across Canada as the incumbent will work alongside the sales team, coaching and supporting as the company continues to expand its reach.

Key responsibilities:
  • Developing and overseeing the Canadian sales business plan, including any joint sales business plans with trade partners.
  • Develop plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals.
  • Manage the business relationships and performance management of the sales team, brokers, and distributors.
  • Define sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required.
  • Managing trade spend planning and execution.
  • Work with other departments to address key business issues and opportunities.
  • Coach, mentor and develop the Sales team.
  • Building strategic relationships with key customers.
  • Maintain an understanding of the competitive landscape and take necessary steps to be the most relevant supplier in the industry.
  • Leading the sales team by being a positive, professional contributor and maintaining a supportive and professional attitude within the company.
Qualifications and desired qualities:
  • University degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of sales leadership experience
  • Experience establishing and implementing a national sales agenda.
  • Ability to manage a sales operations system including annual planning, monthly forecast rhythms, trade spending principles, and execution.
  • Strong track record of building high-performance teams.
