Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Sales has overall
responsibility for leading all sales-related activity within the Company. The Director of Sales is a hands-on sales professional who spends quality time in the trade with customers and supports the success of sales professionals to achieve or exceed budgeted sales results.
The incumbent is responsible for developing and executing the complete
overall sales and strategy execution. This role is a member of the Senior Management Team, and as such, actively participates in strategic business development meetings, and is jointly responsible for the delivery of the annual operating plan (AOP) and the long-range plan (LRP) for the Company.
This role is hybrid (preferred 3-4 Days in office) and requires approximately 20% travel within Canada and the US.
Compensation includes a base salary ($110-140k range, based on skills & experience), bonus, car allowance, benefits, RRSP and profit sharing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall growth of existing business within an established customer base
- New business development / prospecting new accounts / new territories that align with strategic growth objectives
- Development and execution of a strategic new business development approach
- Conduct business review meetings with significant customers
- Develop and maintain a direct marketing program and leverage communication processes and tools to enhance products and services
- Develop marketing and branding initiatives to enhance and support the Company’s position within the marketplace
- Ensure that all budget targets are met or exceeded
- Establish and oversee setting the goals and objectives of the sales team
- Responsible for overall performance reviews in addition to hiring, training, managing, and mentoring the sales team
- Participate in the overall development of the Annual Operating Plan and the Long Range Plan
Key Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education preferred (College Diploma or University Degree) with an emphasis/specialization in Marketing, Sales or Business Administration/Commerce
- 7–10 years of relevant sales and marketing experience (preferably in a produce, food processing, or distribution/logistics environment)
- Proven track record of successful company branding and marketing channel development with chefs, food service distributors, and key accounts (multi-chain)
- Effective communication, passion and belief, decisiveness, connection with employees individually, and a commitment to team building
- Proven track record of leading growth initiatives and expanding business in both current and new clients Proficient in leadership, organizational, multi-tasking, and presentation skills
- Strong business acumen, budgeting, and strategic planning to align growth opportunities with Company value-added strengths
- Strong PC skills, proficiency with Google and Office software, and strong written and verbal communication skills
- A broad knowledge of the technical aspects involved in managing employees in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment that continues to grow
