Director of Sales

Reporting to the President you are responsible for growing sales throughout North America by working with Canadian and US Brokers, Canadian sales team and major chains and key accounts. You need a high energy and "builder" attitude, this company has had a lot of early success and big plans for the future!

Some of what you will do in this role includes:
  • Create an overall Business Plan for the market, aligned to company strategy and brand positioning
  • Determine selling strategies to all customer segment groups
  • Align price & product strategies with marketing and production
  • Market assessment and prioritization, SWOT and audit
  • Top & bottom line business improvement plans and budget management
  • Execute and implement the established strategies balanced by tactical realities to support brand direction and sales growth in the market
  • Monitor the marketplace to stay ahead of trends; know what customers want; understand the concept of leveraging the brand and incorporate it in all business activities
  • Utilize key business indicators and analytical methodology to drive decision-making within the market to make optimal use of resources to create profitability
  • Be familiar with SPINS
  • Lead and maintain Broker Network to realize objectives
  • Monitor Broker effectiveness; establish goals and clarify expectations; ensure proper training & development systems are in place; provide timely feedback to Brokers at all levels; give timely and accurate performance feedback
  • Mentor and Guide our Western and Eastern Canadian Sales managers for top performance and effectiveness.
You should have the following in your background to apply:
  • A minimum of 10 years of sales experience within the U.S. grocery & retail business
  • Strong, well-established relationships with the major retailers in Canada and/or US
  • Post-secondary education
  • Strategic, business, financial planning knowledge and abilities
  • Ability to interpret and communicate mission and value concepts to a wide range of internal and external representatives
  • Ability to make strategic, operational and administrative decisions in response to emerging conditions and environmental circumstances
  • Capable of dealing with ambiguity
  • Business planning knowledge and abilities
  • Market assessment knowledge and abilities
  • Tactical alignment knowledge, abilities and agility
  • General management knowledge and abilities, including Finance, Legal, HR, Operations, Logistics and Marketing
