Field Certifier – Hazardous Locations

Our client (a not-for-profit organization) has had a goal of making the world a safer and better place to live. They are the leader in creating a safe place to live for all. The company employees take pride in making a difference in people’s lives through the work that they do. They are looking for a Field Certifier located in Edmonton, Alberta. They will be responsible for the certification of hazardous location products located at client’s sites to ensure compliance to specific electrical safety standards. This will include travel, on-site evaluation, field testing, and making technical decisions of compliance for these products which can range from small batches of control panels to large individual skids

  • Travel to client location throughout Western Canada and occasional travel internationally to the US and Europe.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of the company certification process, accreditation requirements, and quality management procedures.
  • Conducts construction evaluation, ensuring the unit complies with the construction section of the standard; identifies rationale for compliance or non-compliance.
  • Prepares Findings Communications, Certification reports, Certificates of Compliance and other related
  • As appropriate, suggests to sales team new client opportunities to support growth.
  • Prepares quotation input on scope, standards, time required to complete a project. Classifies product by use, environment, and function.
  • Explains the different product certification programs available to clients and the requirements for control of production.
  • Conducts witness test programs at manufacturer’s accredited laboratory as needed.

  • Certified Engineering Technologist diploma, Journeyman Electrician, or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with 3 or more years of related experience.
  • Hands on experience in a petrochemical environment would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of electrical test equipment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to correctly use all and standard office software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Good interpersonal skills and works well with all members of the team.
  • Self-motivated and client-service oriented.
  • Proficient with computer and tablet technology including keyboarding and use of MS Office applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, detail oriented, strong organizational, time, and project management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical diagrams, schematics, and test data.
