Our client is a global distributor of chemical products and has established a position as one of North America’s leading distributors of specialty chemicals, ingredients and raw materials. My client is currently searching for a Food Application Specialist based in Brampton, Ontario. The Food Application Specialist role is intended to enhance our Technical capabilities. The position will conduct application bench work for technical projects, bench work for product development of Food products as well as development of prototype demo samples for principals and customers trainings, trade shows, symposiums, etc. This position will provide technical support (at IMCD and customers) in specific food categories (focusing on Bakery & Savory). The scope of this position covers Food & Nutrition BU in North America.


  • Accelerate projects by conducting application bench work on technical projects from internal & external customers.
  • Assist in development of prototype food based products containing IMCD ingredients as required.
  • Conduct and document lab trials for each project in an organized and scientific manner.
  • Conduct analytical, physical and sensory testing on prototype and customers products as required.
  • Prepare demo prototype samples for customers and principals trainings, symposiums, trade shows and presentations.
  • Develop a library of prototype formulations in IMCD format by incorporating as many of our ingredients as possible, using principals’ prototype formulations as starting point.
  • Liaise with principals and become knowledgeable in incorporating their ingredients into food products.
  • Technical Support to sales and customers with technical recommendations associated with our ingredients.
  • Technical Support to sales & customers via joint calls or plant trials associated with technical projects
  • Build a library of technical resource materials related to product development; prototype formulations in format by incorporating as many of our ingredients as possible; Technical documents to be used for innovative selling & tools for Commercial team.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Science/Food Science or equivalent with at least 3 – 5 year experience in Food Industry.
  • Must have experience in product development in bakery & savory food applications
  • R&D experience in a manufacturing environment will be an asset
  • Knowledge of food formulation, food additives and ingredients used by Food Industry.
  • Previous experiences in culinary, market concept and food display/presentation will be an sset
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with a high degree of organizational and multi-tasking characteristics.
  • Self-motivated to accomplish business and personal objectives.
