THE OPPORTUNITY

Antigonish Farmers’ Mutual Insurance Company is a locally owned and run insurance company specializing in property insurance. Located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, we have been serving the insurance needs of our policyholders in Northeastern Nova Scotia since 1910. Operating as a Mutual, and owned by policyholders, who may share in any profits generated.

You nurture and maintain an open and transparent relationship with the Board of Directors by providing frequent and timely reports on strategic, operational, and insurance policy matter impacting the organization and, by extension, the policyholders. COMPANY BACKGROUND
Antigonish Farmers’ Mutual Insurance Company offers property and liability insurance for homes, mini homes, seasonal residences, farm operations, and fishing boats and equipment. They are also able to provide automobile insurance through our wholly owned subsidiary, Farmers’ Mutual Insurance Agency. With agents located throughout Nova Scotia, you can count on them to fulfill your insurance needs in the following counties: Antigonish, Guysborough, Pictou, Colchester, Cumberland, Hants, Halifax, Inverness, Victoria, Richmond, and Cape Breton


EXPERIENCE and COMPETENCIES:
  • A minimum of five years’ management experience working in the property and casualty insurance industry, or related financial services, with demonstrated success in building cohesive, engaged, and motivated teams.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working closely with a Board of Directors.
  • Proven leadership skills – confident, persistent, empathic, persuasive and motivating. Able to delegate and be hands-on, when necessary.
  • Several years’ profitable ‘P & L’ experience, for a business unit/company.
  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Demonstrated passion for community involvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.

EDUCATION:
  • Chartered Insurance Professional designation (CIP and/or FCIP).
  • BBA/MBA and/or accelerated designation, or equivalent experience.

COMPENSATION
Compensation will be commensurate with background and experience and will include a base salary, variable performance incentives, and benefits. Relocation assistance to Antigonish as needed.
