MacDonald Search Group is proud to partner with a successful Vancouver based organizations that provides products to customers across Canada in their search for a Human Resources Manager. Based out of the Vancouver corporate office, the successful candidate will be responsible for building a level of excellence in the overall Human Resource function by providing a strong focus on creating programs that deliver meaningful business outcomes and enhances employee engagement. Reporting to and working closely with the Executive team, the Manager Human Resources will develop and coordinate best practices in employee relations, training and development, performance management, recruitment, leadership development and succession planning, benefits administration and the creation of other effective tools needed by the company.

What you will be doing:
  • Collaborating with business partners to ensure superior execution of business outcomes, with a focus to create a culture that supports business growth.
  • Developing programs and communications to implement desired change initiatives that link to the culture and business strategy
  • Developing and maintaining key relationships at all levels of the company to understand and assess the cultural health and alignment with Corporate values.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
  • Manage accident & investigation reporting, and manage the return to work program
  • Implement policies and ensure the team member handbook is comprehensive and updated
  • Responsible for providing strategic human resources advice as well as practical and tactical solutions to HR issues.
  • Developing, recommending, communicating and evaluating HR policies, plans and initiatives to ensure they meet operational and employee needs. This includes support to managers and/or employees on the interpretation of the HR policies and procedures.
  • Providing HR counsel to business partners on performance management, including improvement and action plans, as well as termination procedures and requirements.
  • Developing and recommending creative alternatives to resolve employee performance issues.
  • Providing direction to and supervising the HR staff
  • Establishing strategies in alignment with corporate HR goals and strategic Plan.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of the HR records.
  • Assessing and building talent pipelines and workforce plans.
  • Leading, assisting and or advising the management team with regards to employee investigations and resolves concerns and issues as appropriate, including where necessary the issuance of correction action plans or termination.
  • Partnering with various plant and head office leaders to ensure proactive positive employee relation practices are occurring, ensuring all corporate initiatives are rolled out and successfully implemented.
  • Ensuring company adheres to Provincial Employment Standards, WCB regulations, Human Rights and any other applicable federal and provincial employment legislation.
  • Building relationships with employment lawyers, vendor partners, external HR Consultant. Consulting with these vendor partners for advice on difficult employment situations such as termination, temporary lay offs etc…
Who you are:
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • You have a minimum of 3 years previous experience in a generalist’s multi-unit supervisory or management role or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 3 to 7 years previous HR experience, with a general knowledge of all areas of Human Resources, preferably within a manufacturing and distribution organization.
  • Demonstrated influencing, problem solving and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Solid understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of relevant multi provincial employment legislation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and exceptional interpersonal, listening and interpretative skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work and exercise initiative to ensure high quality service in a high paced environment.
  • Detail and results oriented with ability to work independently.
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office Products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Available to travel based on business needs.
  • CHRP designation is a must.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday during office hours but can shift to various hours to meet the needs of a 24/7, multi province business.
