Our client is an established and growing company in Richmond, looking for an experience Mechanical Engineer or related to support with industrial design of their product line.
This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality mechanical solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Focus on Mechanical Enclosures and industrial product look and feel
- Lead the mechanical design of new product development and iteration of existing products, proposing improvement solutions and driving implementation.
- Define and maintain an industrial design language that scales across the product line
- Designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling using CAD to provide solutions to the production floor.
- Leading Design for Manufacture (DFM) & Design for Assembly (DFA) efforts on engineering programs and providing feedback to management
- Prepare and maintain technical documents
- Support prototype assembly, manufacturing, and trial production
- Participate in product debugging and failure analysis, proposing and implementing improvements
- Other as required
- Post Secondary in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in CAD/3D modeling software
- Strong hands-on skills, capable of participating in prototype assembly and troubleshooting
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills and adaptability to a fast-paced startup environment with a small team
- Ability to sketch out ideas as product designs evolve
