Our client, a start up engineering firm is providing innovative solutions to highly technical industrial clients. As they continue to grow, they are looking for someone special to join their team in the role of Instrumentation Field Service Tech. Be part of an organization engineers, designs, installs and maintains complex equipment used across several sectors of industry including mining, oil & gas and construction.

Based in Edmonton Alberta, this position will be responsible for installation, modification and maintenance of control systems on new product builds and existing client equipment. The right person will visit customer locations across Alberta to ensure equipment is functioning at optimum levels.

In this role you will:

  • Provide general technical direction and assistance to the customer in the operation,
maintenance, repair, logistic support, and installation of products
  • Review work orders, plan daily travel schedule, investigate complaints, conduct tests and resolve issues.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance and training in proper operation, maintenance, and
troubleshooting of products
  • Train end users and clients on occasion and by request on best practices of usage of
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technologist diploma in electronics engineering or instrumentation
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation preferably with field equipment
  • Above average communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Ability to analyze information and make confident decisions based on the information provided.
  • Experience in project management and risk analysis.
  • Excellent technical writing ability and some exposure to training of individuals
  • Configuration, programming, drafting and execution of tests
  • Ability to exercise judgment in making sound decisions.
  • FAT/SAT/SIT conduction and HAZOP participation
Must have a valid driver’s license and clear record, willingness to travel up to 70% and work outdoors when required in all weather conditions.
