Family-owned and operated since 1989, our client specializes in sustainable and environment-friendly garden products for commercial growers, wholesalers, distributors, and the consumer market, offering products and services that are an alternative to chemicals.

Currently, they are looking for a Lab Manager - Nematology to join their busy team in the Ontario area. This role will proactively lead and manage the laboratory and ensure all members of the team have the tools and materials necessary to complete their jobs.

Responsibilities:
  • Management of insect rearing system to ensure the integrity and sustainability of nematode strains
  • Collaborate in other insect rearing system/s strategic direction
  • Lead all research and development projects
  • Product development and improvement of present products
  • Continually seek to improve product lines
  • Manage lab budget and expenses to minimize costs for products or services
  • Help develop and maintain annual laboratory budget
  • Manage Laboratory Supervisor and Lead Technician
  • Follow and administer company Policies and Procedures
  • Support as required for and at the office facility
  • Duty of care towards yourself, colleagues, and the company for proactive Workplace Health and Safety
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth completion of laboratory work processes
  • Other projects or tasks as required
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree in Lifesciences with emphasis on botany/plant sciences, plant pathology, nematology, or related fields
  • Laboratory experience in Nematology
  • Familiar with Nematodes-Pest Control within the Agriculture-Natural Insect control industry
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
