PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership, coordination, and evaluation of the manufacturing plant and its production employees with a focus on safety and quality. As the Supervisor, you will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.


Responsibilities
  • Manage, develop, and mentor production support staff.
  • Ensures department personnel are provided a suitable opportunity for development and training.
  • Reviews, updates, and approves position descriptions for all department personnel.
  • Sets job performance objectives, regularly measure performance, advises department employees of their standing, and guides them in improving their performance, if needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, labor, and environmental requirements.
  • Recommendations to improve/maintain the efficiency of the facility
  • Reviews production costs and product quality; modifies production and inventory control processes to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the manufacturing facility.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams in the successful execution of the production schedule.
  • Promote continuous improvement throughout all manufacturing areas.
  • Maintains safety plan and monitors employee compliance with same.
Education and Experience

  • 3 years of previous experience in a supervisory position managing salary and unionized employees, preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment with steel fabrication, welding, and/or machining.
  • Technical training, certification, or a degree in a field related to manufacturing required or a combination of related experience and education.
  • Training and experience related to human resource management are considered an asset.
