National Sales Manager

Our client has been in the business for over forty years with a best in class collection of specialty food products retailed across the country and consumed on the tables of millions of Canadians. Due to expansion in their business, our client is seeking an accomplished sales leader to join the team and manage the sales reps across the country. This position is based in BC with accountability for approximately nine sales representatives (direct reports and third parties). This role offers work location flexibility from home for 2-3 days or from their East Van office 2-3 days. There is travel required back East up to 25%. Some of what you will do in this role includes:
  • Lead your sales team of approximately nine representatives to success in a customer mix of approximately 80% retail and 20% food service / hospitality accounts across Canada
  • Coach your direct reports and agents in sales techniques, plan KPI's, prepare trade marketing plans and cultivate opportunities
  • Attend client meetings with your reps
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with clients and be an ambassador of the brands
  • Prepare sales and expense budgets, ensuring top and bottom line performance
  • Innovate ways to stand out from the crowd to gain listings and product exposure in store and to ensure your third party reps have your brands top of mind
  • Come up with ways to incentivize the performance of your sales team in accomplishing your objectives
  • Determine listing gaps and determine action steps to close them profitably
  • Liaise with other departments in the organization to ensure customer satisfaction (e-commerce, marketing, logistics, finance)
You should have the following in your background to apply:
  • Passion for food, cooking, baking
  • Sales leadership experience
  • Authenticity and ability to establish rapport with clients, colleagues and direct reports
  • CPG, Food Service, Beverage Alcohol, Hospitality sales experience
  • Analytical abilities and capability to determine KPI's and build accountability into the system
  • DSD and / or DC experience
  • Experience working with 3rd party reps and direct report reps
