They have asked MacDonald Search Group to find a Production Manager to join their team in Toronto. Reporting to the Plant Manager, The Production Manager is responsible for the daily plant production and staff management in the department/s under their control.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the plant adheres to all government regulations regarding safe food production, ensuring the highest standards of food safety are applied plant-wide
  • Monitor department constantly for SOP, HACCP, and GMP variances and correct
  • Develop, implement and maintain best practices for the area of responsibility
  • Review new and current product specifications,
  • Report to the Plant Manager/COO regularly, bring forward ideas for improvement
  • Monitor staffing levels and adjust to meet production levels and control costs
  • Support R&D and identify schedule and planning concerns and opportunities
  • Prioritize work and follow through working in a team environment and as an individual
  • Work hands-on as required teaching employees the use of using high-speed packaging machines and other production equipment
  • Provide strong leadership, working closely with line leaders and supervisors
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs
  • Ensure the smooth performance of any inspections and internal audits
  • Deliver new hire Orientation Training ensuring new employees
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing, and directing a production team
  • Ensure safety and overall compliance with OHSA
  • Assist and provide support during third part audits and participate in plant trials
Skills & Education
  • Experience in the meat processing environment is a mandatory requirement preferably with a minimum of five (5) years of experience
  • Sound knowledge of HACCP, SOPs, GMP, Environmental Safety.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve deviations, compliance issues, seek out and apply best practices. Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent understanding of English with above average verbal & written skills required
  • A college diploma or degree in a related field is required
  • Superior strategic thinking, negotiating, planning, organizational, time management, coaching, and mentoring skills
  • Excellent computer, oral, and written skills
