Our Client has been a recognized leader for years providing exceptional specialty baked food products to both retailers and restaurants. They have called on Sean Baker of MacDonald Search Group to help them recruit a dynamic, results oriented and passionate Plant Manager that will help make a difference in their Calgary production facility.

Reporting to the senior leadership of the company, the Plant Manager will be responsible for effectively planning, monitoring and leading day to day operations along with planning strategies that will help to increase productivity, improve quality while also impacting the bottom line.

Specifically the Plant Manager will:
  • Act as the control point for all related production functions
  • Assist in developing the technical capabilities of its personnel through administrating and implementing training programs to achieve optimal effectiveness.
  • Monitor shift performance with respect to production, delivery and scrap across multiple production lines
  • Have direct impact on materials, inventory, storage and transportation costs to maximize utilization and minimize costs
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve output and KPI's.
  • Act as the communications conduit between sales and operations.
  • Work with Department Managers to ensure appropriate scheduling and availability of resources (i.e. customer requirements) is achieved on time and within the budget.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • 8 years of manufacturing experience with a minimum of 5 years of food production, plant, or operations leadership or management experience.
  • Post-secondary education in management, a food science or manufacturing.
  • Education and training in Safety and Quality
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be capable to adapt in a stressful and pressurized environment that has multiple deadlines
  • Be a natural motivational leader and team builder with highly developed conflict resolution, negotiation and listening skills.
