Senior Facility Project Manager - Western Canada

Our client has built a tremendous reputation for brand quality for years with their food products. They have asked Sean Baker of MacDonald Search Group to assist with the recruit for a Senior Facility Project Manager - Western Canada. Reporting to the Director of Engineering this position will be accountable for costs, schedules, quality, reporting, and overall coordination of engineering required for projects throughout several of their manufacturing plants located throughout Western Canada. As this is a senior role our client is insisting that the right individual will have an engineering degree along with either project management designation or business diploma.

Specifically, the successful candidate will:
  • Work as a member of the Engineering team to maintain multiple projects.
  • Ensure the effective execution of all aspects of projects, including direct technical, as well as environmental, safety, and regulatory project requirements.
  • Ability to work with various stakeholders to identify deficiencies or areas in need of repair/upgrade along with opportunities to improve.
  • Prepare proposals, present options, and outcomes
  • Liaise closely with Plant Managers, Maintenance, Corporate Leadership, and technical and functional contractors to ensure all aspects of projects are on track and coordinated;
  • Contribute to problem resolution for projects as a whole by sharing of experience and expertise;
  • Drawing on all available expertise and resources, make decisions and resolve execution issues to ensure projects remain on track, balancing cost, schedule, and quality appropriately and in line.
Qualifications:
  • Engineering Degree in mechanical, electrical or similar is mandatory, PMP designation or business degree/diploma additional is preferred.
  • 10+ years of project management/engineering experience related to facilities
  • A team player, willing to continuously and proactively collaborate, share, and seek information and guidance;
  • Very technical ability, knowledge, and understanding of building codes, regulations
  • Strategic thinking and planning ability
  • Preference for experience managing large complex facilities (HVAC, boilers, ammonia refrigeration, fire suppression, and safety systems)
  • Must be willing to travel often for short trips to locations within Western Canada.
  • Better than average communication skills both written and verbal.
