Our client, a market leader in transportation & logistics is looking for a Sr. Operations Manager to join their team in Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

In this position, you will oversee the complete day to day operations and maintenance of a small volume facility and ensure the facility is operating to optimize safety and quality measures. You will plan, establish, and execute business objectives to meet all operational goals and ensure that customers’ expectations are met daily.

Key Responsibilities
  • Staffing, coaching, skill development, performance management, and staff productivity
  • Employee relations issues, ensure training compliance is up to date, and work to reduce employee turnover
  • Provide annual performance evaluations and meet with staff daily to review service levels and obtain operational feedback
  • Plan, organize and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary
  • Responsible for on-time deliveries, productivity levels, safety standards, and facility upkeep
  • Lead by example and maintain best practices
  • Develop and manage the department budget; ensure compliance, address variances, and other budget concerns
  • Ensure adherence to all aspects of the contract and holds all Independent Contractors (IC) and Independent Service Providers (ISP) accountable to the operating agreement.
  • Develop relationships, help resolve problems and serve as a liaison between contractor and vendor
  • Measure the execution of performance standards and goals
  • Oversee corporate initiative rollout, develop improvement strategies, and monitor implementation within
  • Verify that all licensing and permit requirements are compliant with federal, state, and local government laws for the facility and/or ICs and ISPs
  • Verify that the facility is in compliance with business controls and oversee the development of action plans to address deficiencies found during business control self-audit (BCSA) and assist with other station audits within the district
  • Developing and administering company safety strategies and programs. Promote a safe work environment by overseeing safety committees, training, and verifying that all safety concerns are addressed
  • Lead and participate in company marketing & sales efforts and attend market council meetings to work towards corporate goals
  • Assist in the establishment of customer service standards
  • Apply Quality Driven Management principles to promote continuous improvement
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with employment laws
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Engineering or related area preferred
  • Two (2) years experience required in management or operational leadership; Pick Up & Delivery or Dock experience preferred

  • Must be fluently bilingual, French/English
