Our client is a National Iconic Canadian Retailer currently seeking a Sous Chef for their downtown Montreal Location. In this role, the Sous Chef will provide guidance and oversight, train kitchen staff, and reinforce food services quality standards.

  • Model appropriate standards, parameters, and prescribed limits to kitchen staff; helping them to understand how they drive business
  • Ensure that the Chef de Cuisine’s standards for product quality, taste, and execution are met in a consistent and timely manner
  • Support and supervise the kitchen staff and motivate staff to take ownership of their work and deliver amazing service
  • Support the achievement of sales volume and margin as determined by seasonal plans
  • Ensure the kitchen meets or exceeds all health regulations, standards, and codes – including safety practices, hygiene practices, and safe food handling and storage practices
  • Works swiftly and safely to deliver quick client service
  • Controls waste of food and ensures proper rotation of perishable stock and maintains prep and storage areas in a clean, tidy and safe manner
  • Keep records of quantities and assists with food and supplies ordering
  • Comply with all Health & Safety policies and requirements
Skills & Qualifications:
  • High school diploma
  • Culinary school graduate
  • 4-6 years previous experience
  • Contribution to financial objectives
  • Individual objectives linked to the achievement of department goals
  • Fully bilingual in French and in English
