Our client, a manufacturer of custom, engineer to order water treatment equipment, has asked MacDonald Search Group to manage their search for a Structural Engineer.
In this role, you will work with other members of the engineering team, project managers, the proposals team and others in the Calgary office. You will maintain close contact and communicate daily and travel frequently to the BC based manufacturing facility. Your high level of coordination and team work will make you successful in working with multiple departments.
Reporting to the VP of Engineering you will:
- Perform detailed load and stress analysis for tanks, skids, pipe supports and walkways/platforms.
- Prepare structural engineering reports to support stamping of structural drawings.
- Perform calculations to provide basic selection and sizing of structural support and materials during conceptual design phase (focusing on readily available and stocked members and plates).
- Develop engineered and stamped standard design guides for repeat designs with similar conditions to add to the company’s standard design library.
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in North America.
- Experience performing structural analysis for custom, engineer to order shop-fabricated equipment
- Registered Professional Engineer registered in BC or Alberta. The Designated Structural Engineer (Struct.Eng.) certification in BC would be an asset.
- Experience with relevant structural analysis software packages.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
