Our client is one of the fastest-growing Quick Service restaurant franchises in Canada, they are currently seeking a Restaurant Training & Operations Specialist to ensure that franchisees and their teams are well prepared to undertake and maintain a successful franchise.

The Restaurant Training & Operations Specialist helps foster and protect the high-quality brand reputation of the brand by ensuring operational standards are consistently executed by the restaurants within the Coach’s assigned geographic area. The Restaurant Training & Operations Specialist will support new restaurant openings, as well as provide ongoing support, coaching, and training to franchisees to help them achieve success. This position requires regular travel, approximately 50% of the time, within the assigned territory.

Restaurant Training & Operations Specialist covers an expanding territory currently supporting 14 restaurants, including Manitoba (Winnipeg), the Maritimes (Moncton, NB, and NL), ON (primarily GTA), plus Kenora.

Key Role Responsibilities
  • Conducting monthly restaurant evaluations and assessing them compared to corporate standards
  • Creating action plans based on assessment observations, and providing coaching and consultation and coaching to franchisees to influence positive change, in support of the actions plan
  • Coaching franchisees on standards improvement, using knowledge of processes, checklists, best practices, and strong operational knowledge, including health & safety, and food and labour costs
  • Supporting successful openings of new restaurants within the assigned territory
  • Providing regular hands-on training at regional training centers, and at franchisee locations, to ensure teams are properly trained
  • Hands-on, in-restaurant leadership and regular training, aligned with the company’s high standards
  • Developing training modules, demonstrating content expertise in operations
  • Updating or developing restaurant policies for the franchise
  • Proactively working with the management team to identify and resolve issues
  • Developing documentation, training, checklists or procedures around new assessment or safety program processes that relate to in restaurant operations
  • Leading or facilitating discussions or surveys with other team members, including franchisees, around relevant head office topics
  • Participating in the organizing of special events, such as key company milestones (such as our 150th store opening celebration), or key company meetings and conferences
  • Following through on any additional tasks designated by your manager,
  • As new regional training centers are identified, you will help support the development and rollout of these centers

Knowledge, Experience & Education Required
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a leadership or comparable role in the Quick Service
  • Restaurant (QSR) or Fast Casual environment
  • Experience providing training in the foodservice industry
  • Post-secondary education is an asset, particularly with a business and/or training focus
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • Able to handle standard problems independently; uses guidelines to make decisions; escalates complex problems; seeks regular guidance from manager
Working Conditions
  • While the role is home office-based, frequent travel is required, up to 50% of the time
  • Incumbents must attend hands-on training in Toronto at the commencement of employment, and as needed
  • Ability to stand for long durations while assessing and providing training and opening support in restaurants
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to travel regularly to franchisee sites, requiring a valid driver’s license
